Here you will find a variety of different leaf patterns.  Quite a few of them are original designs by me but I have also tried to find different one’s available on blogs worldwide.   Site also has many other free crochet spring patterns available.  This pattern was created to go in conjunction with my Red Heart Spring Blossom Cloche.

Abbreviations and Stitches used:

st- stitch

sp- space

ch- chain

sl st- slip stitch
insert hook, yarn over, pull through, (two loops on hook), pull loop closest to hook through other loop

sc- single crochet
insert hook, yarn over, pull through (two loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops

hdc- half double crochet
yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through (three loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all three loops

dc- double crochet
yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through (three loops on hook), yarn over, pull through first two loops on hook, yarn over and pull through last two loops

Materials:
All of these leaves were made with Red Heart Yarn unless specified and a 4.0mm hook

 

Fat Bottom Leaf
 this one is my favorite, currently available in small and medium only. 

Small Fat Bottom Leaf

Chain 6

Turn and sc across <5>

Turn and crochet as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1hdc, 2hdc, 1sc, 1sc, 1sl st

At top, ch2 and sl st into same sp

Crochet opposite side as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1sl st, 1sc, 1sc, 2hdc, 1hdc

Sl st into base of leaf and fasten off, tie knot with other tail and leave long for fastening to finished piece

Medium Fat Bottom Leaf

Chain 9

Turn and sc across <8>

Turn and crochet as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1dc, 2dc, 2dc, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc, 1sc, 1sc, 1sl st

At top, ch2 and sl st into same sp

Sl st into base of leaf and fasten off, tie knot with other tail and leave long for fastening to finished piece

 

Rounded Leaves
this rounded leaf is available in three sizes; small, medium and large

 

Small Rounded Leaf

Chain 6

Turn and sc across <5>

At top, ch 1

Crochet opposite side as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1sc, 1sc

Sl st into base of leaf and fasten off, tie knot with other tail and leave long for fastening to finished piece

Medium Rounded Leaf

Chain 9

Large Rounded Leaf

Diamond Leaf
simple design- currently only available in medium

At top, ch 2 and sl st into same space

Sl st into base of leaf and fasten off, tie knot with other tail and leave long for fastening to finished piece

 

Bumpy Leaves/Holly Leaves-
Great for Christmas time to use as Holly Leaves.  Available in small and medium

At top, ch 1

Medium Bumpy/Holly Leaf

Chain 10

Turn and sc across <9>

Turn and crochet as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1 sl st, 1hdc 1tc 1hdc, 1sl st, 1sl st, 1hdc 1tc 1hdc, 1sl st, 1sl st, 1sc 1dc 1sc, 1sl st

At top, ch 1

Crochet opposite side as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1sl st, 1sc 1dc 1sc, 1sl st, 1sl st, 1hdc 1tc 1hdc, 1sl st, 1sl st, 1hdc 1tc 1hdc, 1sl st

Sl st into base of leaf and fasten off, tie knot with other tail and leave long for fastening to finished piece

 

Large Variegated Leaf-
this leaf was made with 100% cotton (peaches n’ cream) in 2 shades and a 4.0mm hook

Starting with lighter color Ch 9

Turn and sc across <8>

Change color, tie end of old color to end of new color, do not cut old color and crochet as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1dc, 2dc, 2dc, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc, 1sc, 1sc

At top of leaf, ch3 and sl st into same space

Down the other side crochet as follows (each space is separated by a comma) 1sc, 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 2dc, 2dc, 1dc, 1sl st (change color back to light color on sl st), do not cut dark color

Crochet around entire leaf, alternating between 1sl st in front loops only and 1sc in both loops.  When you get to the ch 3 at top of leaf do 1sc, ch1, 1sc and repeat down the other side alternating between 1sl st in front loops only and 1sc in both loops

Sl st into base of leaf and tie off.  Weave in ends leaving two ends at base to secure
