Amazing Crochet Textures with Drew Emborsky
Free Craftsy Class Review
Have you ever taken a class on Craftsy before? Craftsy is an amazing online resource that offers online classes for all sorts of different crafty topics, from crochet to knitting, photography to cake decorating, almost anything you can imagine. These classes bring skilled artisans right into your home, and the classes never expire, so you can watch them over and over again.
I was super excited when I saw that Craftsy offered a FREE crochet class, Amazing Crochet Textures. Just like lots of you, I’m the kind of person who likes to know what something will be like before I spend any money.
This free class has so much to offer. First off it is taught by the fabulous Drew Emborsky. Secondly it teaches you some amazing crochet techniques, such as; foundation double crochet (the best thing that I have ever learned in crochet), front post double crochet, back post double crochet, edging crochet squares, joining crochet squares as you go, and even how to add buttons AS YOU GO. That means no more having to guess how many beads your project will need and the not so fun task of stringing them all on. Drew will also teach us why pre stringing your beads can hurt your yarn. There is more too, but I’ll leave some surprises for you.
This class gives you a taste of the fantastic features that all of Craftsy great classes offer. My favorite is the 30 second replay button, with just one click you will be taken 30 seconds back in the video… great for people like me who sometimes need to hear instructions repeated back once or twice before I fully get it.
I also love that you can ask questions about the videos and that other people can answer and help you along. With each class you are provided all the classroom materials you will need.
With the free Amazing Crochet Textures class you will gain all the knowledge you could need to make this gorgeous blanket sampler.
The classroom materials include the written pattern for the blanket sampler, including crochet charts and diagram of how to assemble your finished squares. There is also a handy Metric Conversion Chart. You can also purchase a kit that includes the yarn featured.
Another great feature to Craftsy classes is that you can add notes anywhere along the video. You can also add your finished blanket to the projects section and check out everyone elses blankets for inspiration.
I highly recommend Amazing Crochet Textures for everyone, from those who has even them most basic knowledge of crochet to those who have been crocheting for years. There is nothing like learning a new technique to help propel your craft. I loved this class and I can guarantee you that I’ll be taking a lot more.
