MY favorite crochet subscription service is Mainly Crochet. I am fortunate enough to know the founder and owner Michelle Maks personally. Recently I sat down with her and chat more about this great service.

Mainly crochet is the brainchild of Michele Maks, former editor of Crochet World magazine and a freelance designer for 23+ years. It is presently run by Michele, with technical editing and layout design done by Susanna Tobias (a previous Crochet World tech editor), and most of the photography done by Don Patty, a graduate of Dayton Art Institute. Designs for this online publication are conceived and executed by a variety of talented freelance designers. Because we have no space constraints, patterns that couldn’t be produced responsibly in a magazine, are able to be produced here as they should be, with lots of photographs, all the words needed in a consecutive format not interrupted by ads. Yes, that’s right, NO ADS EVER! When you cross over into the state of Maine, the sign says “The Way Life is Supposed to be”. When you cross over into mainly crochet territory, the sign says “The Way Patterns are Supposed to be Produced”. After all, we ARE based in Phippsburg!
We, of necessity, have a very small crew, but believe we are producing the very best of crochet patterns available today, in a format that is unique to this industry. Subscribers are totally delighted with both the content and presentation, and our next challenge is to become more obviously THE PLACE for crocheters to procure their next subscription.
