YARN
Three colors of #4 worsted weight (colors A, B and C): approximately 150 yards of each. Fun Fur or comparable eyelash yarn that matches color C: approximately 50 yards.
MATERIALS
Hooks: K/10 ½(6.5mm) and L/11(8mm)

STITCH GUIDE
ch(s): chain(s), sc: single crochet, sc2tog: single crochet two stitches together(decrease), sc3tog: single crochet three stitches together(decrease), hdc: half double crochet, dc: double crochet, st(s): stitch(es), BLO: back loop only (on the side facing away from you), TLO: third loop only (the ‘extra’ loop in an hdc stitch, SEE PIC), sl st: slip stitch
NOTES
- Turning chains do NOT count as stitches.
- ‘Fringe’ looks best if ‘combed out’ after fastening off.
- Written as 2t-3t size with notes for two larger sizes in [ ]’s
PATTERN
(With K hook and color A yarn)Ch 60 [63, 66]
Row 1(color A): dc in fourth st from hook, dc across to end (57sts[60, 63])
Row 2(color A): ch3, turn, dc across to end (57sts[60, 63])
Row 3(change to color B): ch3, turn, dc across to end (57sts[60, 63])
Row 4(color B): ch3, turn, dc across to end (57sts[60, 63])
Row 5(change to color C): ch2, turn, hdc across to end, join w/sl st in first st (57sts[60, 63])
**Now you will switch to ‘crocheting in the round’, and join at the end of each round
Row/Round 6(change to color A): ch3, turn, (in TLO) dc around, join w/sl st in first st (57sts[60, 63])
Row/Round 7(color A): ch3, turn, dc around, join w/sl st in first st (57sts[60, 63])
Row/Round 8(change to color B): repeat R7
Row/Round 9(color B): repeat R7
Row/Round 10(change to color C): ch2, turn, hdc around, join w/sl st in first st (57sts[60, 63])
Row/Round 11(change to color A): ch3, turn, (in BLO) dc around, join w/sl st in first st (57sts[60, 63])
Rows/Rounds 12-14: repeat Rows/Round 7-9 (follow color change notes for those Rows/Rounds)
Row/Round 15(change to color C): repeat Row/Round 10
**Change to L hook
Repeat Rows/Rounds 6-15 (ending on a R10 OR R15) until piece measures approximately 11”(2t-3t)/13”(4y-5y)/15”(6y-7y)
**Each additional repeat for R6-15 will add approximately 2” to length
FINISHING
Waistband trim and button loops (with K hook, yarn color ‘C’ and right side facing out)
Round 1: Join yarn w/sl st in very first ch of starting chain, ch1, sc in same stitch, sc across til ONE st remains, 3scs in last st, turn piece 90 degrees clockwise (counterclockwise if you’re left handed), sc in ends of rows down first side of ‘V’ (2 scs in side of each dc, 1 sc in side of hdc) til ONE st remains, sc2tog over last st on first side and first st on second side of ‘V’, 2scs in end of R4, ch5, sl st in same st (creates one button loop), 2scs in end of R3, 2scs in end of R2, ch5, sl st in same st, 3scs in end of R1, join w/sl st to first st.
Round 2: ch1, turn, sc in same st, sc in next st, skip next st, 6scs in ch5 LOOP SPACE, skip next st, sc in next THREE sts, skip next st, 6scs in ch5 LOOP SPACE, skip next st, sc3tog over next THREE sts (closes up bottom of ‘V’), sc in next eight sts, 3scs in next st (at corner), sc across, join w/sl st to first st. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Adding fringe (using L hook and eyelash yarn, add fringe to all of the hdc rows/rounds {R5, R10, R15 and their repeats})
For Row 5: Attach eyelash yarn w/sl st in bottom unworked loop of first st, ch1, sc in same st, sc in each un worked bottom loop across, when you reach the end turn piece 180 degrees, continue to sc in unworked loops (this time you’re working in the ‘top’ loops of the same stitches), fasten off and weave in ends.
For Rounds 10 & 15 and their repeats: Follow Row 5 fringe instructions above except JOIN W/SL ST BEFORE TURNING PIECE 180 DEGREES and join at the very end w/sl st before fastening off and weaving in ends.
Sew on button(s)
Determine where to sew buttons on by overlapping the button loop side of the ‘V’ over the non button loop side and marking. Sew buttons on.
