Free Lace Square Crochet Pattern

This free lace square crochet pattern is fun and easy to work up. It would make a great dishcloth, or afghan square for a lovely throw.

Crochet Lace Square. Free Pattern.

I think I’ll use the cotton squares as trivets and make a lace afghan
using 
fingering weight yarn.

YARN
Approximately 25 yards WW yarn

MATERIALS
Hook to correspond with the yarn chosen
Yarn needle

DIFFICULTY
Easy

FINISHED SIZE
Will depend on the yarn you choose
Examples
Worsted Weight = 6”
Bulky = 10”
Fingering = 3”

GAUGE
Gauge is not important with this pattern, depends on yarn and hook chosen

SPECIAL STITCHES

Vst– V stitch
[1dc, ch 2, 1dc] in the same st/sp

SH – Shell
[2dc, ch 2, 2dc] in the same st/sp

PATTERN

Round 1: Ch 6, sl st in first ch to form a ring. Ch 5, [1 dc into ring, ch 2] 7 times, sl st into 3rd ch of the first ch 5 to join round.

Round 2: Sl st into the next ch-2 sp. [Ch 5 and 1dc] in the same ch-2 sp, ch 1, [Vst in the next ch-2 sp, ch 1,] 7 times, sl st in the 3rd ch of the first ch-5 to join round.

Round 3: Sl st into the next ch-2 sp. [Ch3, 1dc, Ch 2, 2dc] in the same ch-2 sp, ch 2, [SH in the next Vst, ch 2] 7 times, sl st in the first ch-3 to join round.

Round 4:   Sl st into the next dc, sl st into the ch-2 sp of the next SH.  [Ch 3, 2dc, ch3, 3dc] in the same SH (first corner), ch 3, sc in the next SH, ch 3, *[3dc, ch 3, 3dc] in next SH (3 remaining corners), ch 3, sc in the next SH, ch 3, repeat from * 2x, sl st in top of first ch-3 to join round.

Round 5:  Ch 3 and 1dc in the same st, dc in each of the next 2 dc, [2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in next ch-3 corner sp, dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2dc in the next dc,3 dc in next ch-3, dc in next sc, 3 dc in next ch-3, *2 dc in the next dc, dc in each of the next 2dc, [2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in next ch-3 corner sp, dc in each of the next 2 dc, 2dc in the next dc, 3 dc in next ch-3, dc in next sc, 3 dc in next ch-3,  repeat from * 2x,  sl st in top of first ch-3 to join round.  Fasten off and weave in ends.
