Treatsie the Bunny Basket – free Easter basket crochet pattern

This is such a cute and generously sized basket to hold all your Easter goodies. Made from a bulky yarn it works up quickly and is soft and cuddly while it still keeps it shape nicely. Perfect for each of the kids or as a family gift.

YARN
1 lg skein Bernat Blanket yarn [6] Super Bulky (300 g / 10.5 oz) (234 m/258 yds) in white (or brown)
2 oz. pink yarn [4] worsted wt
1 oz. White (or brown) yarn [4] worsted wt. for tail
Small amt. black yarn [4] worsted wt. for mouth

MATERIALS
2 – 30 mm Wiggle Eyes (or if you prefer you can use 2 – 1 ¼ inch buttons)
Sz H / 5.0 mm Hook
Sz L / 8.0 mm Hook
2 ½ inch PomPom Maker
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Craft Glue

DIFFICULTY
Easy

FINISHED SIZE
Approx. 17 inches tall (including ears) and 31 inches around

GAUGE
Gauge is not critical for this project

STITCH GUIDE
ch – chain, st – stitch, sl st – slip stitch, hdc – half double crochet, sc – single crochet, sc 2 tog – single crochet 2 together, hdc 2 tog – half double crochet 2 tog, sc 3 tog – single crochet 3 together.

SPECIAL STITCHES

  • Half Double Crochet 2 Together – Yarn over (YO) hook, insert hook into stitch (st), pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook. YO hook, insert hook into next st, pull up a loop, 5 loops on hook. YO hook, pull through all 5 loops on hook.
  • Single Crochet 2 Together – Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook
  • Single Crochet 3 Together – Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull loop through stitch, Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull loop through stitch, Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull loop through stitch (4 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw yarn through all 4 loops on hook.

NOTES

  • The ch 1 at the beginning of each row or round does not count as a stitch.
