This split cowl is versatile and can be worn a couple different ways. Perfect touch for those crisp fall days.

  • 7.0mm hook
  • yarn/tapestry needle
  • scissors

GAUGE
9.5 sts x 8 rows in HBhdc = 4 inches

STITCH GUIDE
st(s) – stitch(es); ch(s) – chain(s); sp – space; hk – hook; sk – skip; t-ch – turning chain; yo – yarn over; sc – single crochet; sh – shell; dc – double crochet; cl – cluster; hdc – half double crochet; HBhdc – Herringbone half double crochet

SPECIAL STITCHES
Foundation single crochet: ch 2, insert hk in 2nd ch from hk, yo and pull through (2 lps on hk), yo and pull through 1st lp on hk (ch made), yo and pull through both lps (first foundation sc made). For next st, *insert hk in ch of previous st, yo and pull through (2 lps on hk), yo and pull through 1st lp on hk (ch made), yo and pull through both lps. Repeat from * for each subsequent stitch.

Cluster: *yo, insert hk in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and pull through 2 lps on hk* 4 times, yo and pull through all lps on hk

Shell: In indicated st or ch sp, 6 dc

Herringbone half double crochet: yo, insert hk in indicated st, yo and pull through st and 1st lp on hk (2 lps on hk), yo and pull through both lps

NOTES

  • Read through the entire pattern before starting.
  • Beginning chs do not count as st unless otherwise noted.
  • Be sure to check your gauge.
  • All joins are with a sl st to first st of row.
