Flattering Shaping and Fun Lace Top
The Golden PoppyTee features a fantastic, subtle texture that’s wonderful to crochet. The beautiful lace top adds a soft contrast to the main ridged body of the tee. The Golden Poppy Tee allows you to play around with the lace placement on the sleeves or bottom helm for a unique character. Customize the Golden Poppy Tee to your taste for a stylish and fashionable top.
This design has waist/bust/shoulder shaping and features minimal ease. This top is designed bottom-up in two panels. The shoulders are then seamed and the sleeves are added. The sides are then seamed. See ‘Construction’ for more information.

NOTES
- Pattern is written in size XS with changes for S, M, L, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x and 5x in parenthesis.
- Instructions where only one number are shown refer to all sizes.
- Pattern is worked in turned rows.
- Ch 2 is not considered the first hdc.
- Ch 1 is not considered the first sc.
- Stitch counts are shown in <brackets> at the end of rows where a change takes place.
- Customizations can be easily made to change the fit of this garment. Each section (hips, waist, bust) is notated, additional increases or decreases can be made in each section for a more customized fit.
- The sleeves are made independently and you can mix and match the sleeve size and the top size for a perfect fit.
CONSTRUCTION
The Golden Poppy Tee is constructed bottom up in two separate panels; front and back. Front and Back panels have shaping for the waist, bust and shoulders. The top/lace portion is created in a separate color, stitched directly onto the front and back panels. The shoulders are then seamed to create long panels (right and left sides). The long panels on either side are edged, in the main color, for easier construction. The sleeves are made separate, in the main color, and are then seamed at the center of the long panels. The entire garment is then folded in half, lining up the bottom edges of the hem and the sleeves and seamed to finish. You can leave optional splits on the sides if desired. The neck is then finished with simple stitches in the same color used on the body.
Optional lace details can be added to the bottom hem and the sleeve hem.

With the WS facing up (on both panels), line up the shoulders (the last rows completed), mattress seam the shoulder seams with the long tail. This creates one long panel with a right and left side.
EDGING THE LONG PANELS
Using the J/6.0mm hook, join Color A in either side and sc evenly along the entire side of the long panel, fasten off. Repeat for the second side. Exact st counts are not mandatory for this section, you just want to ensure that your fabric is neither pulled tightly or over stretched. What works well for me is placing 3 sc edge sts over every 2 rows of hdc.
SLEEVES- K/6.5 hook and Color A
Sleeves are worked in turned rows from cuff to shoulder, following the blo pattern used on the main body. Increases take place on regular hdc rows only. You can use the sleeves from any size (based on measurements) to customize the fit of your finished garment.
Leave a long tail to begin (for seaming the sides)
Row 1: FHDC 33 (34, 37, 40, 45, 52, 58, 61, 64), turn work.
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in first st and every st across to end, turn work. < 33 (34, 37, 40, 45, 52, 58, 61, 64) hdc>
Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in first st, hdc in blo in every st across until one st remains, hdc in last st, turn work.
Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in first st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in each st until 2 sts remain, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in last st, turn work. <35 (36, 39, 42, 47, 54, 60, 63, 66>
Row 5: Ch 2, hdc in first st, hdc in blo in every st across until one st remains, hdc in last st, turn work.
Repeat the last two rows consecutively: 4 (5, 5, 5, 4, 2, 2, 2, 2) times. <43 (46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 64, 67, 70) hdc>
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 consecutively: until a total of 16 rows are worked.
Row 17: Ch 2, hdc in first st and every st across to end, turn work. <43 (46, 49, 52, 55, 58, 64, 67, 70) hdc>
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for seaming.
FINAL ASSEMBLY
Lay the edged long panels down with the WS facing up.
Adding Sleeves
Line up the center of the sleeve (last row worked) with the center seam of the shoulders, WS of the sleeve facing up as well.
Using the long tail left on the last row of the sleeves; Mattress seam the finished sleeve to the center of the long panel. Repeat for the second side.
Fasten off.
Seaming Sides
Fold the garment in half with the WS facing out. Using the long tail left at the beginning of the sleeves; Mattress seam the bottom of the sleeves to the armpit and continue down the side of the garment to the hem. Optional: You may leave a slit on the sides if you wish. Repeat for the second side.
Fasten off.
