10 Free Crochet Toy Patterns For The New Crocheter

July 27, 2015 By: Emilycomment

Below are links for 10 adorable crochet toys!

I love making crocheted toys – there’s something so satisfying about being able to make a cute character in just a few hours. These ten critters would make lovely presents for kids or cute little gifts for friends. The patterns are all free to download!

8 Awesome FREE Crochet Toy Patterns

1. No Sew Crochet Sea Turtle

Made with the super popular Chenile yarn, this turtle works up fast and is no-sew!  It is difficult to find amigurumi patterns that don’t require any sewing at all!  Kali from The Friendly Red Fox designed this pattern.  She made several out of different yarns, and said she liked using them all for different reasons.  She used Hobbii’s Baby Snuggle, Premier Chunky, and Michael’s Sweet Snuggles Lite.

2. Splish Splash Amigurumi Dolphin

The Japanese art of amigurumi is adorable, and one you absolutely must try. Irene Strange’s little dolphin is just the thing to kickstart your amigurumi affair.  Create a log in and you will find a PDF version available for free download at this link.

3 Avian amigo

owl

This owl is so cute with all its details!  Crocheted in one spiral, this is a quick toy-making project for those who love mini makes. Hang him as a Christmas tree charm or use him as a tiny little shelf decoration – either way he’s sure to be loved!

4: Chicken Keychain Amigurumi

Chicken Amigurumi is having a moment right now! These chicks are a great project to use up some scrap yarn!  Turn them into a keychain for even more fun!  The designer’s name is Mariska from DIY Fluffies, and she recommends sport weight yarn for this project.

5 Perfect pets

cat and dog

If you are looking for the purr-fect project for your first foray into amigurumi, this pair would be it!  Dennis the dog and Casey the cat involve only two basic stitches, the chain and the double crochet. They would be the perfect pattern for a youngster learning to crochet.

6 Crochet Owl Cushion

Granny squares are a rite of passage for a new crocheter, and what better way to learn than with this adorable pillow!  Start off Christopher owl with a row of multicolored granny squares, then add the body and triangular ears to top everything off.

7 Elma & Elvis the Elephants

Elma and Elvis the elephants feature a pretty circular granny design on the back, fun stripy ears and adorable mini tusks. There are just four easy stitches to master, meaning you can create a pair in no time at all.  Use them as weighted bookends, or toys for the kids!

8. Narwhal Crochet Friend

These adorable narwhals are brought to you by Olga of Always Free Amigurumi.  There are made of a lightweight cotton and are simple to make!  Mostly single crochets make up these narwhals!
