Jackie of Amidorable Crochet

One of my absolute favorite television shows is The Big Bang Theory. My favorite characters are “Shamy”. Those of you who follow the show know exactly whom I am talking about. Those who don’t… well, you should!

“Shamy” is the combination name for the two best characters on the show, Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler (played by Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik of Blossom fame). If you haven’t watched this show than you just must give it a chance… but anyway, I digress.

Where were we? Oh yeah, my guest blogger. I am excited to introduce you to Jackie of Amidorable Crochet.  Jackie designs the BEST amigurumi charechter dolls I have ever seen. They are so deadpan on.

I recently came across a picture of (almost) the entire cast of The Big Bang Theory and I made it my mission to search out their creator and that is how I met Jackie. I contacted her and asked her to be a guest on the blog. She eagerly accepted and offered to share her free patterns for the Sheldon and Amy amigurumi’s.

Her Sheldon amigurumi is even famous, you can watch the actor, Jim Parsons, discuss him on Conan O’Brien and give a shout out to Jackie herself.

How long have you been crocheting?  
I have been crocheting since the fall of 2009. And I’m hooked, I will crochet for as long as I can wield a hook!

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since 2008. I started with a blog about my scrapbooking, I scrapbooked and was part of Design Teams for a few years. Then I picked up crocheting and never looked back. My passion is crocheting!

What are your favorite items to make?
Amigurumi, hands down!

What is your favorite thing about crocheting and or blogging?
My favorite thing about crocheting is coming up with designs for new dolls. I don’t follow patterns….I love getting an idea in my head about a doll. Picking up my yarn, and hook and just creating! It is very exciting for me.

What are your favorite yarns (brands or types) to work with?
Ohhh, I’m all over the place when it comes to yarn! Lately I have been using Bernat Super Value for my skin tones. Then Red Heart Super Saver for all of my other colors. And for the colder months I love using LionBrand for all my hats and cowls. I really am all over the place when it comes to yarn ….I’m a “Toucher” I like to see and feel yarn in person when yarn shopping.

What was your inspiration for your pattern?
The inspiration for my Sheldon pattern comes directly from the TV Show The Big Bang Theory! I am a HUGE Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) fan. I have made many Sheldon dolls, and I never get tired of it! I like making dolls of characters and people that I like.

Tell me a little something about your personal life… kids, family, pets, etc.
I live with my Husband, Daughter and two little dogs in B.C . Canada. When I don’t have a hook attached to my hand I like shopping for Vintage Treasures, collecting Blythe Dolls, and watching TV! I’m an easygoing person, give me some tea and yarn and I’m happy!
