Textures Free Crochet Top Pattern

This free crochet top pattern is worked up using Lion Brand’s latest yarn, Textures. This lightweight cropped top features three-quarter sleeves and an open design, which makes it the perfect pattern to crochet for late summer/ early fall. Textures yarn is a great variegated yarn, so no matter what colorway you choose, you are sure to get a gorgeous looking top full of various colors. This pattern comes in sizes Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, 1x and 2x which can all be viewed on the Cre8tion Crochet blog for free.  All 6 sizes are also available as an advertising-free, printable pdf on Ravelry as a paid pattern.

Free Crochet Pattern for the Textures Top.

YARN
350 (375, 425, 450, 500, 550) yards of Textures Yarn by Lion Brand Yarns (discontinued) or any #4 Worsted Weight in your choice of colors.

MATERIALS
9.00m N hook – I used my Plum Candy Shop by Furls Crochet to make the Textures Top.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Bust 34 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52)”
Underarm depth 8 ½ (8 ½, 9 ½, 9 ½, 10 ½, 10 ½)”
Length 19 (19, 20 ½, 20 ½, 22 ¼, 22 ¼)”

GAUGE
8sts and 5 rows = 4″

SPECIAL STITCHES

Fdc: foundation double crochet
Chain 4 (counts as the first fdc). Yarn over and insert hook in 4th chain from hook. *Yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 1 loop creating a chain st, (this is an important step but easy to forget). Yarn over again and pull through first two loops on hook (two loops remaining). Yarn over again and pull through last two loops on hook. This completes the second fdc (remember your ch4 counted as the first fdc). To stitch the next fdc, yarn over and insert the hook into the chain made in the 2nd fdc and repeat from *

dc2tog: double crochet two together
yarn over (YO), insert hook into first st, YO and draw up a loop, (three loops on hook), YO and pull through first two loops (two loops remaining on hook), YO, insert hook in next st, YO and draw up a loop (four loops on hook), YO, pull through first two loops on hook, YO and pull through remaining three loops.

  • Ch 2 does not count as a st
  • The first dc of every row will be placed in the same space as the ch 2
  • Pattern can be worked in two colors or one.  If you choose to use two colors, MC – main color (top portion) and CC- Contrasting Color (bottom portion)
