Interlocking Chains Scarf

January 6, 2015 By: Lorene

I love browsing Pinterest for inspiration and finding new stitches. I came across the stitch I used in this one a few months ago and this idea has been bouncing around in my head for a while now. The Interlocking Chains scarf works up pretty quickly and is a great pattern for a beginner who might be ready for a little challenge.

Interlocking Chains Scarf designed by Creative Threads by Leah, exclusively for Cre8tion Crochet

The Interlocking Chains Scarf pattern was designed by Cre8tion Crochet Contributor Leah Feild.  Leah is the owner of Creative Threads by Leah

NOTES

  • This is a fairly simple pattern with a complicated look.
  • You can create as many sections as you want in as many colors as you want. I chose to do mine in 2 colors with 5 sections.
  • I chose to weave in my ends when done but they could be done as you finish each section.
  • This could actually work with any weight of yarn and corresponding hook as desired. Beginning chain would need to be adjusted.
  • For the beginning chain, a multiple of 10 + 7 needs to be chained.
  • As written, this scarf will be about 74 inches long. Changes for a 60 inch and 48 inch scarf are in parentheses.

PATTERN

Section 1: Ch 297 (247, 197) in color A. Dc in back ridge of 3rd ch from hook and next 4. *Ch 5, sk next 5 chs. Dc in back ridge of next 5 chs.* Repeat to end of ch. Finish off. <30 (25, 20) dc sections; 29 (24, 19) ch-5 spaces>

Section 2: Ch 297 in color B. Dc in back ridge of 3rd ch from hook and next 4. *Weave ch from front to back (pictured below) through corresponding space on previous section. Ch 5, sk next 5 chs. Dc in back ridge of next 5 chs.* Repeat to end of ch. Finish off. <30 (25, 20) dc sections; 29 (24, 19) ch-5 spaces>

Section 3: Ch 297 in color A. Dc in back ridge of 3rd ch from hook and next 4. *Weave ch from front to back through corresponding space on previous section. Ch 5, sk next 5 chs. Dc in back ridge of next 5 chs.* Repeat to end of ch. Finish off. <30 (25, 20) dc sections; 29 (24, 19) ch-5 spaces>

Continue to repeat Section 3 in chosen color pattern to desired width.

FINISHING

Fasten off and weave in all ends.  Alternatively you can add fringe to the ends.

I hope you enjoyed Interlocking Chains Scarf.
