Kings Cape- Free Crochet Pattern

Materials
Worsted Weight yarn- I used Red Heart Super Saver in Amethyst
Fun fur in your choice of color
6.0mm (J) hook – I used my Green Apple Candy Shop by Furls Crochet to make the King’s Cape Infant Photo Prop

11sts and 6 rows = 4”
Notes
• These items are for use as a photo prop ONLY. Use only with supervision. Do not leave child unattended for any amount of time while wearing these photo props.
• Ch3 counts as first dc
• Last st of each row will be placed in the Ch3 from previous row
Finished Measurements– with fun fur added
7 ½” at narrow top
9 ½” at wide bottom

Abbreviations and stitches used
FDC– foundation double crochet (Tutorial here)
Chain 3 (counts as 1st fdc). Yarn over and insert hook in 3rd chain from hook. *Yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 1 loop creating a sl st, (this is an important step but easy to forget). Yarn over again and pull through first two loops on hook (two loops remaining). Yarn over again and pull through last two loops on hook. This completes the second fdc (remember your 1st ch3 counted as the 1st fdc). To stitch the next fdc, yarn over and insert the hook into the sl st made in the 2nd fdc and repeat from *
PATTERN
Row 1: FDC 15 <15>
Row 2: Ch3 and turn. 1dc in the same st. 1dc in each of the next 13sts. 2dc in the last dc. <17>
Row 3: Ch3 and turn. 2dc in the same st. 1dc in each of the next 15sts. 3dc in the last st. <19>
Row 4: Ch3 and turn. 2dc in the same st. 1dc in each of the next 17sts. 3dc in the last st. <21>
Row5: Ch3 and turn. 1dc in the same st. 1dc in each of the next 19sts. 2dc in the last dc. <23>
Row 6: Ch3 and turn. 1dc in the same st. 1dc in each of the next 21sts. 2dc in the last dc. <25>
Rows 7-15: Ch3 in turn. 1dc in every st across. <25>
Row 16: Change to fun fur on row 16- Ch2 and turn. 1hdc in every st across. <25>
Row 17: Ch2 and turn. 1hdc in every st to end. 3hdc in corner. Continuing around entire piece; work 2hdc in every Ch3/dc up sides and in every st across top. Sl st into Ch2 to join. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing
Chain desired length for ties and attach to two top corners of cape. I used both fun fur and worsted weight for my ties, and chained 30.
