Lion Brands Wool Ease Thick and Quick– 106 yards
I used Charcoal and Citron in my samples

MATERIALS
US N15/10.00mm hook
Yarn needle

DIFFICULTY
Easy

FINISHED SIZE
10″ tall by 12″ wide (24″ before stitching together)

GAUGE
8sts and 3.5 rows = 4″

STITCH GUIDE
ch(s) – chain(s), sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, st(s) – stitch(es), BLO – back loop only, RS – right side,

SPECIAL STITCHES
CSDC– Chainless Starting Double Crochet- Turn work. Pull up a loop to the height of a normal dc. YO with the loop so that the hook is behind the loop. Insert the hook into the first st of row. Complete a normal dc (YO and draw through st (3 loops on hook). YO and draw through first two loops on hook. YO and draw through last two loops on hook). HERE is a fantastic tutorial by Moogly.

NOTES

  • You can substitute a ch3 for the CSDC

PATTERN

Row 1: FDC 20

Rows 2-22: Turn. CSDC in first st. 1dc in BLO in each of the next 18sts. 1dc (both loops) in the last st. Fasten off, leaving long tail for stitching together.

FINISHING

  • Lie cowl flat vertically on a flat surface. Fold both ends to the center. Mattress st together using the top loop only of the top folded half and the bottom loop only of the bottom folded half. Fasten off and weave in ends.  Mattress Stitch Tutorial HERE
  • Alternately you can attach buttons and style it in any way you wish.
