Granny Fan ReDux – Crochet Pattern Review

October 24, 2015 By: Cre8tion Crochet

I had the pleasure to review and crochet this pattern, designed by Andee Graves/ M2H Design. When I was given a choice of which of Andee’s amazing pattern to review, my eyes were immediately drawn to the fantastical design of the Granny Fans ReDux.

The pattern offers several different styles of neck wear giving choices to complement your desired style, and now you can enter to win a copy of the Granny Fans ReDux of your very own.

Given all the choices, I chose to crochet the neck cozy style using Lion Brand’s Heartland in Yosemite. I love anything that sits close to my neck giving me great warmth on cold days. The design is so sophisticated that I know it will look great with any outfit I wear. Even the color will complement most outfits. I decided to not add a button so that I can have the option of leaving it open if I’d like, or using a brooch to pin it together.

The pattern has different sections explaining each style choice. You get clear notes and instructions giving you exactly what you need to create your own Granny Fan ReDux project including yarn needed, yardage, gauge, hook, stitch abbreviation, and an explanation of special stitches used.

The pattern instructions are easy to understand using US crochet stitch abbreviations. The great thing about this pattern is that a diagram of the pattern is also included. This helps for visual crocheters to crochet their very own Granny Fans ReDux.

While the pattern is described as intermediate, it is a great pattern for those who would want to increase their skill set. You learn joining motifs as you crochet all the while creating a great piece. It is also a forgiving pattern that should you miss a stitch, the mistake will hardly be seen.

All in all, I really enjoyed crocheting this pattern. It was a fairly quick pattern that resulted in a classy neck cozy that will definitely be put to use this coming winter.
