The Hump De Bump Beanie will be lots of fun to make with its playful texture and color combination possibilities. It works up quickly and can make a great stash-busting project! This free crochet hat pattern comes in Adult and Children’s sizes.
You can use many colors to make your hat or just one, there is really no right or wrong here. I’ve made the Hump De Bump Beanie in one, two, three, four, five and six colors. All of those use just one color for the textured rounds, but you could go crazy and use up to 19 different colors on the adult version. The yarn I chose, Red Heart Soft, comes in 41 colors to choose from! If you use just one color you can make two adult hats from just one skein.

So, you may wonder why the heck this free crochet hat is called ‘Hump De Bump’, or maybe you already know and in that case, I love you so much!
There are two reasons really. One, because of the bumps of texture in the hat, I wanted to marry simple stitches together to make something visually appealing with a small amount of texture. Hopefully, I succeeded. Two, because Hump De Bump is a song from my all-time favorite band and it was stuck in my head the entire time I was designing this hat. I have loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers for over 30 years!
I’ve only ever named one other design after a song, also because I had it stuck in my head as I was making it, and it turned out to be one of my top 10 popular designs, so I figured it would be good luck to also name this one after the song I sang while making it.
I hope you enjoy the pattern for my Hump De Bump Beanie! Be sure to use #cre8tioncrochet and #humpdebumpbeanie in your posts on social media so that I can see all your amazing creations!
