Kaleidoscope Cowl a free crochet pattern

December 8, 2017 By: Lorene

Kaleidoscope Cowl

This super warm cowl is designed using 100% Handspun Merino Yarn from Made by Novella* in her Signature colorway, you can read my review of the yarn here. The Kaleidoscope Cowl features a fun lace stitch that is worked in rows and seamed together. A lace border is then added to finish off the look. This cowl works up very fast and would make an amazing gift.

*MadeByNovella has changed to Novella Bobo Designs. The Signature colorway in this Cowl pattern is exclusive to her brand. If you are interested in purchasing you can email her at [email protected]

Each ball is 100% Merino Wool, 75 yards, 4g, 2ply, 7-8wpi. You Hand wash it in cool water & air dry.

PATTERN

Row 1 (RS): Ch 29

Row 2:  2dc in the 4th ch from hook, skip 3 chs, sc next ch, * ch 3, dc next 3 chs, skip next 3 chs, sc next ch, repeat from * to end, turn work – 4 clusters

Row 3: Ch 3, 2dc in first st, *skip next 3-dc, [sc, ch 3, 3dc] in next ch-3 sp, skip next st, repeat from * to last ch-3 sp, skip next 2-dc, sc in last dc (turning chain from previous row), turn – 4 clusters

Block your work as needed. After blocking you will assemble; with WS facing place ends together and seam together. I prefer to use a mattress st.

FINISHING

With RS facing; attach yarn with sl st along the back of your cowl, in any sc space, ch 1, [sc, ch 3, 3 dc] in same space, *skip next ch 3 from body and working into the next sc space, [sc, ch 3, 3 dc] in same space, repeat from * around, sl st into the top of the first sc (skipping over ch-1) to join. Repeat for the other edge of the cowl. Block edges as needed.
