NOTES
Pattern is written in US terms.

- Stitch counts are shown in <brackets> on rounds were a change takes place.
Notes on Construction
The band of the ear warmer (textured section) is made first and then seamed closed. The rest of the ear warmer is worked along the long edge of the seamed band. The final product is then cinched closed at the seam, making the finished product appear seamless.
Pattern
Textured Band
Ch 8- If you are making this for a baby, I would recommend chaining 6 instead. You can also make this band wider by adding chs in increments of 2. As written/shown is 2.5″ in width.
Row 1 (RS): [sc and dc] in the first ch from the hook (first cluster made), *skip one ch, [sc and dc] in next ch (next cluster made), repeat from * to end, turn work. <4 clusters>
Row 2: Ch 1, skip first st (dc), [sc and dc] in next st (first cluster made), *skip next st, [sc and dc] next st (next cluster made), repeat from * to end, turn work. <4 clusters>
Repeat Row 2 until desired length. This should be 2″ less than the diameter of your head; For example, my head is 21.5″, so I made my band 19.5″. A comprehensive list of head sizes can be found HERE.
fold the back of the ear warmer to match the row you just completed and sl sl together to seam.
Top Portion
Row 1: Ch 2 and turn so that you are working into the RS of the finished band. Hdc evenly along the top of the band, sl st into the top of the first hdc (skipping over beg ch-2) to join, turn work. <St count is not specific here, just be sure the fabric of the band is neither bunched up or stretched out. I place one st for every row end.>
Rows 2 – 5: Ch 2, hdc in first st, hdc in each st around, sl st into the top of the first hdc (skipping over beg ch-2) to join, turn work. <st count will vary). Fasten off, leaving long tail for cinching.
Finishing
I chose not to edge the bottom of the textured section because I preferred the way it looked with the bumpy edge, however you can hdc evenly along the bottom edge as well if you wish.
Pinch the center of the finished headband closed over the seam and use the long tail to secure the cinch. Weave in all ends.
