Kindred Yarn from WeCrochet- #3 DK – 68% Baby Alpaca, 32% Peruvian Pima Cotton- 115 yards/ 50 grams
Sample uses 180 yards Color A/Cargo, 50 yards Color B/Wintergreen, 50 yards Color C/Spice and 50 yards Color D/Cactus

STITCH GUIDE
ch(s) – chain(s), sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, st(s) – stitch(es), RS – right side,
SPECIAL STITCHES
Fhdc- Foundation Half Double Crochet- tutorial
Chain 2 (does NOT count as first fhdc). Yarn over (YO) and insert hook in 2nd chain from hook. *YO and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), YO and pull through one loop creating a chain, (this is an important step but easy to forget), YO again and pull through all three loops on hook. This completes the first fhdc. To stitch the next fhdc, YO and insert the hook into the chain made in the previous fhdc and repeat from *until the desired amount of sts are achieved.
H-hdc- Herringbone Half Double Crochet- tutorial
Yarn over (YO), insert hook in st, YO and draw through the st and the first loop on the hook (two loops remain on hook), YO and draw through two remaining loops on hook. Be sure not to pull the first part of the stitch too tightly.
Repeat A: H-hdc in the first st, H-hdc in each st to end, ch 1, turn work.
Repeat B: Sc in the first st, dc in the next st, *sc in the next st, dc in the next st, repeat from * to end, ch 1, turn.
NOTES
- Ch 2 (and ch 1) are not considered the first stitch, the first H-hdc (or sc) will be placed in the same st as the Ch 2 (or ch 1).
- Stitch count is maintained for the length of the pattern.
- The pattern has a fringe that is worked with the stitching of the cowl; You will begin and end each color change with approximately a 10-12” tail. Additional fringe will be added to the braided sections.

Finishing
Turn the cowl right side facing out; Add 3 double lengths of yarn to the fringe wherever you want a braid to be. Braid this section and knot at the end. Cut all fringe to the same length.
