Anastasia Smith is an incredible crochet designer and I’m so excited to share a small sample of her work with you! Everyone who loves to make garments should get to know her. She describes her style as modern Boho chic. As of when I’m writing this she has 157 designs published on Ravelry. Her main focus is garments, but she has a few other patterns for wraps, cowls, and hats that are exceptional, and oh-so-cute! She always includes numerous size options, including plus sizes. Sometimes she even includes children’s sizes so you can make adorable mommy-and-me outfits!
Each pattern below has a link to the paid pattern on Ravelry.
Huge thank you to Emily of Crochet Aweigh for putting together this awesome collection of free crochet patterns for us!

To start off this showcase we have the Tied and True Sweater Dress. If you’ve read any of my other posts you know the soft spot in my heart for dresses! This dress is a perfect make for the colder seasons. The adorable tie detail at the shoulder takes this design to another level. You can customize it to be hourglass shape or a little looser around the waist. Anastasia used Lion Brand Jeans, which is a worsted weight tonal yarn. I used Lion Brand Pound of Love when I made mine. Any worsted weight that has structure to it will work. She also has a design for a sweater version. The design is available from small to 5X adult sizes.

Next we have the Royal Bomber Jacket, one of my personal favorites! The main stitch in this design is called the crown stitch, which I had never heard of before making this pattern. It was a bit tricky to learn, but she has a YouTube tutorial to help you through it. Even though it is a little hard to learn at first, it is a very impressive looking stitch combo. I’ve made a few of these for some friends and the feedback is always positive. My friends say that it is the perfect sweater. It has full coverage on the sleeves, because us ladies tend to get cold on our arms, but lighter coverage across the back where we don’t get as cold.

The Elena Tank Top is on my must-make list! The first words that come to mind with this pattern are stunning and classy. The top can be dressed up or down to fit your mood. The puff stitch along the edge makes this top so special. Anastasia used Lion Brand Truboo which is a DK weight made of a bamboo fiber, which has an incredibly soft feel and drapes beautifully. The pattern is written up to size 5X.

One of Anastasia’s only shawls is called Laura’s Tranquility Scarf. The texture on this is fabulous! The way the different kinds of stitches intermix create a really interesting composition. If you check out the different projects on Ravelry some makers have even added tassels to their scarf! Personally I am a HUGE fan of tassels. This is made from a worsted weight so that means here in the US we have so many color options! Worsted weight is plentiful at Hobby Lobby and Joann Fabrics.

We have more tassels! The Bimini Boho Vest is so versatile, throw it on over any outfit to elevate your look. Colors or neutrals, this vest looks great in any color. Made with a worsted weight and a 6.5mm/K hook, it works up pretty fast. The lacework down the back is my favorite part of the vest. This is one of the patterns that has children’s sizes included so you can make the cutest matching set for your little one!

The Diamonds in the Sky Sweater is part of an entire collection that has this sweater, a tank top, and a mommy and me set. The sweater is a perfect make for the warmer weather climates. With it’s DK yarn weight, it is just the right weight to keep the slight chill away in the Spring or Fall. Anastasia used Lion Brand’s Comfy Cotton Blend, which again, is perfect for the southern autumn nights. The little picots offer just enough interest to make this sweater a showstopper without over-complicating it.

The Goddess Vibes Top is giving just that! This crop top would be great for Spring break, a music festival, or a summer bonfire. Again Anastasia used Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend which is a fantastic DK yarn for this top. Another great choice would be Duna or Natural Cotton from Circulo. Something unique about this top is that there is a maternity option for it. This would make an incredible top for a maternity photo shoot!

This dress cover up is part of Anastasia’s “Peekaboo” Collection. The Peekaboo Dress Cover Up can be worn as a swim suit cover up or as a lacy over-dress. Work this up in your favorite DK, or use Lion Brand’s Coboo which is what she used. Coboo is a cotton/bamboo blend and has the softness from the bamboo, but the durability of cotton. I’ve used Coboo for several projects and it has held up better than some of the 100% bamboo/rayon yarns. The stitches are comprised mostly of triple stitches and puff stitches which gives that striped effect.

Okay, now if you are looking for a project that works up fast, makes a great gift, and is perfect for any gal in your life you have found it with The Wanderlust Ruana! Working with a simple, yet interesting 6 row repeat you make 2 panels and sew it together along the back seam. The ruana works as a perfect topper for any outfit. Anastasia used Plymouth Yarn DK Merino Superwash, but any DK cotton would make an excellent substitute as well! The Wanderlust collection is a favorite of mine from Journey Chanel Designs. It comprises of this ruana, a cardigan, a cover up, a vest, and a child’s vest!

The Fairy Wing Buttoned Cowl is the final pattern for this showcase, but the perfect accessory for our current Fall season! Anastasia chose Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn, which is a favorite of mine. I use it for so many worsted weight projects. It is 100% acrylic, but unlike many other acrylic yarns, it is not scratchy, but soft instead. The best part is that this cowl is a one skein wonder! You only need one skein so you could probably find a worsted weight in your stash to fit the bill. This cowl works up quickly with only a few repeat rounds and you can have so much fun with the buttons you choose! While at Hobby Lobby to select your yarn (if you don’t find any in your stash), check out the button section. They have lots available and many of them are *sparkly*!
