It’s me, Emily with Crochet Aweigh.
With Valentine’s Day almost upon us I started thinking about what to wear for date night! This year Valentine’s Day is on a Friday, which is perfect for those of us who go out for dinner with our partner, or maybe out with just the girls. Last year I didn’t have the chance to make a cute outfit, but I want to for this year! How about you? Below is a round up of 20 adorable crocheted tops that you still have time to make before Valentine’s Day!

Visit with me on Instagram @Crochet.Aweigh for all kinds of awesome crochet makes and inspiration.

1: The Theia Top from Crochet with Alanna
Alanna is a wonderful crochet designer from Australia who designs made-to-measure garments. Made-to-measure means that you can make the item fit yourself or anyone you have easy access or complete measurements for. This Theia top is so cute and perfect for Valentine’s Day! The wrap around design and tie in the back gives such romantic vibes! She chose a fingering weight cotton such as Comfy Fingering from WeCrochet and a 3mm hook.

2: The Ivy Open Back Tank from Sunshine and Crafts
Looking for something dramatic? This top is casual in the front and party in the back! With a 3.5mm hook and a sport weight yarn like Juniper Moon Summer Solstice your date is sure to be impressed! This pattern is describes as an easy made-to-measure pattern. All the Etsy reviews are positive and say they love their top!

3: Honeycomb Crochet Tank Top by BrianaK
I can imagine this as the perfect top at a picnic or going for a stroll down main street! The Honeycomb Crochet Tank Top is done in the filet crochet technique, which makes it light and airy. You will need a Dk weight yarn such as Araucania Huarasco DK and a C/2.75mm hook.

4: The Wisteria Top by Spirit and Thread Crochet
Spirit and Thread Crochet is one of my favorite designers! She has so many beautiful tops, but the Wisteria Top has a special place in my heart because of the beads. The top is written for sizes extra small through large, and will require between 300-800 yards of a worsted weight cotton. I like Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton for her patterns. It has a nice structure to it for this kind of top.

5: Camellia Sweater by I am Lanka Designs
This has got to be one of the prettiest tops/sweaters ever! The pattern is described as very adjustable and customizable. You can make it to be short or long sleeved, off the shoulder, more fitted, whatever you prefer for your top. It uses fingering weight yarn and someday when I make this I will use Inka by Mirasol. I have used it for other projects and it has this incredible shimmer to it and a little bit of fuzzy halo, like the yarn shown in the picture.

6: The Anica Top from Showroom Crochet
Looking for something sophisticated? This textured polo-style top is lovely, and the pattern is written in English and Spanish! So cool! You will need a DK weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook. The designer recommends either a cotton or a bamboo yarn, but I would use the best of both worlds: Berroco Modern Cotton DK, which is a Cotton/Rayon blend.

7: The Clam Crochet Top from Yarns and Fins
The Clam Top is a quick crop top that includes instructions for sizes XS – XL. She also offers a YouTube tutorial. You will need between 170 – 500 yards, and the designer recommends an ombre yarn like Hobbii Dahlia.

8: The Stella Tee from Larimiloops
This adorable top is created with top-down construction. You could easily extend the length of the top if you didn’t want it to be cropped. The designer recommends a sport weight such as Hempathy by Elsebeth Lavold. The texture of this yarn would pair nicely with the textured stitches of the top.

9: The Summer Granny Tee from Manda’s Handcraft
Here is a fun top perfect for a new crocheter! It is customizable to make any size. Simply make 2 granny squares, seam, and add edging!

10: Sandy Sea Shells Wrap Cardi by MJ’s Off the Hook Designs
The wrap style tops just seem so romantic and feminine! The designer chose Galileo Sport from WeCrochet, which is 50% wool and 50% viscose. The pattern is described as beginner friendly, and easily customizable. You will need a G+/4.50mm hook for the main body and a G/4.00mm for the edging.

11: The Lotus Top from Namaste & Crochet
Dominique Calvillo from Namaste and Crochet is another one of my favorite designers! The Lotus Top would be a fun one for a romantic beach getaway! The pattern is written for sizes XS – 5X, but includes instructions for making it bigger or smaller. You will need 225 – 300 yards of worsted weight cotton yarn like Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton.

12: Fairyland Butterfly Vest Crochet Pattern by Moon Creek Valley
I’ve had the pleasure of testing some of the patterns by this designer, and she does a wonderful job with her patterns! She has very clear instructions and pictures. This one would be gorgeous to throw over a dress for date night! In the listing she doesn’t specify which yarn, but the other patterns I’ve done by her have been sport weight. I used Hobbii Dahlia for her other designs before.

13: Easy Peplum Top by Whimsical Wonders Cove
This peplum top is absolutely precious! The pattern includes instructions for S – XL. She doesn’t include which yarn you need in the description, but it looks like it could be a DK or worsted weight. If so, I would go with Lion Brand Coboo. As a cotton/rayon blend it would have the perfect drape for the peplum section.

14: Saratoga Poncho Top by Make and Do Crew
If you’re more of a boho girl, then this top is for you! The designer chose LB Collection Cotton Bamboo, a DK weight yarn with a little bit of luster, and a beautiful drape. It is described as a very easy construction, but the changing stitch patterns will keep you engaged the whole project! As long as you can chain, single crochet, and double crochet you can make this top!

15: The La Belle Top from Crochet with Alanna
Another size-inclusive, made to measure top from Crochet with Alanna! I just love the bell sleeves and ruffles on this one! This pattern is for an advanced beginner and uses a fingering weight cotton yarn like Circulo Anne. You will also need a 3.5mm hook.

16: The Box Top by Woods and Wool Shop
Named for its short and boxy style, the Box Top can be cropped or longer. It is created with 2 simple panels and then seamed together. The pattern instructions include sizes XS – 5X. This top needs a DK weight yarn that will drape well like Araucania Alga. It would be really pretty with this self striping yarn!

17: Sunburst Boho Top by Mama in a Stitch
Who doesn’t love a good granny square? This top uses a J hook and 3-4 skeins of Lion Brand Jeans. The pattern includes instructions for size S – XL. I love the hippy vibes of these sunburst style squares and the tweed-ish look of this yarn together!

18: The Sika Top by Logii
This cute tank has a little secret…lacy side panels! This is such a dainty and unexpected touch! The designer says you can wear it as a Summer tank or layer it. For Valentine’s Day I would find some organza long sleeved top to put under it!

19: Madeline Lace Top by Lucy Lane Crochet
This lacy sleeveless top is designed for an intermediate crocheter. For this either Queensland Coastal Cotton fine or Juniper Moon Summer Solstice would work perfectly. Something less common about this pattern is that the designer included a look book of all the different testers versions so you can see what yarn they used and how many yards each size needed.

20: The Rusty Road Top by MJ’s Off the Hook
This incredibly beginner friendly top is done in 2 rectangles and seamed together. The classy look of this top will be just the thing for date night! Included sizes are XS – 5X. The pattern specifies WeCrochet Stroll, which is a fingering weight, which is 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon.
