It’s me, Emily with Crochet Aweigh.
Happy New Year! It is a dreary, rainy January day in the usually sunny Central Florida so I’m stuck inside. Now I don’t know about you, but when I’m stuck inside with nowhere to go I get to thinking. I start thinking about all the house projects that I want to do and the endless list of chores. However with it being the start of a fresh, new year I am usually thinking about all the de-cluttering and organizing that I should do. Will I do it? Probably not. There’s too much good yarn around here to distract me. But I THINK about organizing a lot. If you’re like me you might be thinking about doing some New Year’s cleaning and organizing too, but you’re probably more committed to actually doing it than I am. Here are 20 free crochet patterns to organize your home and get you in the organizational mood!

5: Organizer Basket with Removable Dividers
This useful basket is designed by Nicki’s Handmade Crafts and is convertible depending on your needs! The middle dividers are removable so you can have either one large basket, or multiple smaller spaces. The designer recommends a worsted #4 weight cotton yarn like Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, Circulo Natural Max Color, or Lily Sugar N Cream. You will also need a 4.5mm crochet hook, and a 50/50 mixture of craft glue and water to stiffen the dividers.

6: Hanging Remote Holder
This Hanging Remote holder by Jo to the World is so clever! Hang it on your end table like shown in the photo above, or hang it over the arm of your sofa for immediate access during your favorite shows. It would also be handy on your nightstand by your bed. 7: Felted Door Knob Organizer
This handy dandy door knob organizer is a free pattern from Yarnspirations. This is a great introduction to the felting technique if you’ve never tried it. What a creative use for an old frame! Then you can get your earrings on display where you can easily see them to match them to your outfit. You will need chunky #5 yarn like Cherub Chunky from Cascade Yarns or Lion Brand Hue & Me to make this cute multi-functional project.
