This fun mandala uses simple stitches to create a fun mandala.  You can use as many colors as you like.  I have created 3 different looks on this mandala, using 2 and 3 colors each but this pattern would look great in one color or as many as seven different colors, what colors will you use?

YARN
Deramores Studio Anti-Pilling DK yarn.  273 yards/250 meters approx. 100 grams.  100% acrylic double knitting/ light worsted.
Colors used
1) Raspberry and Frost
2) Lapis, Heather and Malachite
3) Frost, Citrine, Malachite and Lapis

Yarn Needle
one removable stitch marker

9 ½” excluding optional last round, 11” including optional last round

GAUGE
3 rounds = 3”

STITCH GUIDE and ABBREVIATIONS

ch(s) – chain(s), sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, st(s) – stitch(es), beg – beginning, ms – marked st

NOTES 

  • Color changes are notated in italics. Some rounds require fasten off and change to next color on next round and some require changing color on joining sl st of same round.
  • Pattern contains instructions for an optional last round. Image 1 and 2 above, do not have optional last round, image 3 does have the optional last round.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

Round 1:  Beginning with main color, make magic circle, into circle, ch 3 and 11dc, sl st into beg ch-3, change to Citrine on sl st. <12>

Round 2:  Ch 3 and dc in same st, 2dc in each st around, sl st into beg ch-3 to join. <24>

Round 3:  Ch 3 and dc in same st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st into beg ch-3 to join, change to new color on sl st.  <36>

Round 4:  Ch 7 and dc in same st, skip 2 sts, *[dc, ch 4, dc] in next st, skip 2 sts, repeat from * 10x more, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-7 to join.

Round 5:  Ch 1, *6 sc in next ch-4, ch 1, repeat from * 11x more, sl st into the first sc (skipping over the beg ch-1) to join, fasten off.

Round 6:  Join new color by sl st into any ch-1, ch 9, *dc in the next ch-1, ch 6, repeat from * 10x more, sl st into the 3rd ch of the beg ch-9 to join.

Round 7:  Sl st into the first ch-6, ch 3 and 6 dc in the same sp, *7 dc in each ch-4 around, repeat from * 10x more, sl st into the beg ch-3 to join, change to new color on sl st.

Round 8:  Ch 3 and dc in the same st, *ch 6, skip 5 sts, 2dc in next st, ch 1*, 2dc in next st**, repeat from * to ** 10x, repeat from * to * 1x more, sl st into beg ch-3 to join.

Round 9:  Sl st into next st, *[3 sc, ch 2, 3 sc] in the next ch-6, sl st into each of the next 2dcs, sl st into ch-1*, sl st into each of the net 2dcs**, repeat from * to ** 10x, repeat from * to * 1x more, sl st into first sl st to join, fasten off.

Round 10:  Join new color by sl st into the ch-1 of rnd 8, directly prior to join of rnd 9, ch 3 and 2dc in the same sp, ch 4, sc in next ch-2, ch 4, * 3dc in next ch-1, ch 4, sc in next ch-2, ch 4, repeat from * 10x more, sl st into the beg ch-3 to join.

Round 11:  Sl st into next st, [ch 3, 2dc, ch 2, 3dc] in same st (mark this ch -2 if doing optional last round), sl st in next ch-4, [2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc] in next sc, sl st in next ch-4, skip 1dc, *[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in the 2nd dc, skip next dc, sl st in next ch-4, [2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc] in next sc, sl st in next ch-4, skip 1dc, repeat from * around, sl st into the beg ch-3 to join, fasten off and weave in ends or move on to optional last round below.

Optional last round
Round 12:
  Join new color by sl st in ms, ch 1 and 5sc in same sp, [4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc] in next ch-2, *5 sc in next ch-2, [4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc] in next ch-2, repeat from * 10x more, sl st into first sc (skipping over beg ch-1) to join, fasten off and weave in all ends.

FINISHING
