Fall CAL Keep Me Warm Cardigan Part Two

Last week we started the Fall CAL of the Keep Me Warm Cardi… I have loved seeing everyone’s progress so far.  Everyone’s color combinations are beautiful, I really can’t wait to see how they all come out.

This week we will be finishing the body of the cardigan, including the bottom ribbing section.  At the beginning of this week you will be separating out the body and the sleeves.  The first portion of this weeks instructions will give you the row count and stitch count of where you should be, so please check this before moving on.  The sleeves, hood, and front panel ribbing will happen over parts three and four.

If you happened to miss Part One, you can refer to it here.  If you are just joining us, please start with this post.

As always, if you have any questions, you can ask in the Cre8tion Crochet’ers Unite Facebook group or email me at [email protected].

If you are just getting started with us or need to see the notes again, Part One can be found HERE.

Before moving on to the next section, let us all take a final look at our work so far and check it for accuracy.  I’d also suggest double checking your gauge, just to be sure.

GAUGE

Size medium should have 184 sts and 15 rows

Size large should have 200 sts and 16 rows

Size XL/1x should have 224 sts and 17 rows

Size XXL/2x should have 240 sts and 18 rows

If your first section is correct, let’s get started with Part Two

If you are following along with the color changes I made for the sample, you will follow these color changes below.

Rows 1-9 Color A (Pewter)
Rows 10-13 Color B (Aqua)
Rows 14-16 Colot A (Pewter)
Rows 17-18 Color B (Aqua)
Row 19 Color A (Pewter)
Rows 20-34 Color B (Aqua)
Row 35 Color A (Pewter)
Rows 36-37 Color B (Aqua)
Row 38 Color A (Pewter)
All ribbing Color A (Pewter)
This row sequence is only for the small size.  If you are making a larger size, you will add 0 (2, 4, 8, 10) rows of the main color (aqua) to your pattern.  You can either add those rows in the large color section (rows 20-34 on the small size) or you can add them anywhere else on the pattern… this is up to you.

Next Row (separate for Body and Sleeves): Ch 3 or CSDC, dc in each of next 17 (20, 22, 25, 27) sts, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 5 (5, 5, 5, 7) for underarm, sk 38 (42, 46, 52, 56) sts to use later for Sleeve, dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in each of next 52 (58, 62, 68, 72) sts, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 5 (5, 5, 5, 7) for other underarm, sk 38 (42, 46, 52, 56) sts to use later for other Sleeve, dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in each of last 18 (21, 23, 26, 28) sts, turn – 92 (104, 112, 124, 132) dc and 10 (10, 10, 10, 14) ch sts; 102 (114, 122, 134, 146) sts total.

Next Row:  Ch 3 or CSDC, dc in each dc and chain across, turn

Next 22 (23, 24, 27, 28) Rows: Ch 3 or CSDC, dc in each st across, turn.

Ribbed Bottom Edging

Row 1 (RS): Ch 3 or CSDC, * exFpdc around next st, dc in next st; rep from * to last st, dc in last st.

Row 2: Ch 3 or CSDC* dc in next st, exBpdc in next st; rep from * to last st, dc in last st.

Rep the last 2 rows 3 more times, or until Ribbed Edging measures 5″

Fasten off.

This completes the body section.  You can now try this part on and make sure it fits your underarms comfortably.  The front will get another  4″ added on each side with the ribbed edging, so don’t expect that part to fit yet.

We will see you back her next Saturday for part three.  You will be completing the sleeves, including the ribbing.
