It’s me, Emily with Crochet Aweigh.

The Forever Blouse designed by Anastasia of Journey Chanel Designs is a stunning collared top with a lacy back and textured front. Even though this lace looks intricate, its only a repeat of a few rows to keep it simple! The pattern is described as being for the advanced beginner, and can be styled so many different ways!

What Materials Do You Need to Crochet the Forever Blouse?

  • 800 – 1900 yards of any DK/Lightweight #3 yarn
  • H8/5.00mm Crochet Hook – We love Clover Amour Ergonomic hooks!
  • Soft tape measure as gauge is important
  • Scissors and yarn needle for weaving ends
  • Stitch Markers – I love these cute kitty ones!

Material Notes:

Anastasia collaborated with Lion Brand Yarns for this top. There is a kit available on Lion Brand’s website if you’re looking for a one-stop-shop! She chose Coboo, which is a rayon and cotton blend. Personally this is my favorite yarn from Lion Brand. Because this is a blend, it holds up better than their Truboo, which is 100% rayon. The garments I’ve made with Coboo have worn better than the ones I’ve made with Truboo. Truboo tends to pill and not hold its structure over time, but Coboo doesn’t have either of those issues. I was all too happy to use the yarn Anastasia recommended for this project. I chose the color Steel Blue. However, please use caution if you are purchasing from a store in person! I made the rookie mistake of not checking the dye lots when I purchased so I ended up with a 2 toned top. It doesn’t look bad per se, but it would look better all in the same color. I made the large size and used approximately 1100 yards for mine.

How Long Does it Take to Crochet the Forever Blouse?

I spent about 3 weeks working on this on and off. To estimate time spent I would say about 15-18 hours total.

Gauge:

The gauge for the Forever Blouse is done in 2 swatches. The stitches on the front are so different than the stitches on the back that they might work up differently for you. The back panel gauge is 14 stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches BLOCKED. Please block your swatches here. This made a big difference on mine!
For the front panel the gauge is 14 stitches by 12 rows = 4″ BLOCKED. The front panel is the alpine stitch.

Pattern Notes:

Anastasia is know for her very size-inclusive patterns. She wrote it to include sizes XXS – 7XL so you are sure to find your size! The pattern is designed to be a little oversized so the finished bust measurements run between 28″ for XXS and 76″ for 7XL. The Forever Blouse starts at the bottom of the back panel, works to the top, splits for the 2 front shoulders, and then comes back together again to finish out the front panel. The only seams are down the sides from the underarms. I love a good low-sew project!

The shoulder shaping was the only tricky part of this entire project, but Anastasia has photos for every step!

My Forever Blouse is currently on display as a sample project for Coboo Yarn at Yarn Crafts & Coffee at America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne, FL! Please stop by and say hi if you’re ever in the area!

The Forever Blouse is super versatile, very soft, yet lightweight piece that can be worn all year round with endless styling possibilities! Comment below to let me know who you are making your forever blouse for!
