It’s me, Emily with Crochet Aweigh.

This is the Rosebud Dreamer Tee and it is designed by Anastasia of Journey Chanel Designs. I love the versatility of this top! This is the kind of crocheted top that you could wear for so many different occasions! You can wear this top with leggings like I did for a casual, everyday look. Or you could throw it on over the top of a dress, or slacks for work. It works great for layering. Do a long sleeve top, the Rosebud Dreamer Tee, and a jacket for cooler weather. I have a feeling I will be wearing this top A LOT more!

What Materials Do You Need to Crochet a Rosebud Dreamer Tee?

  • 600-1500 yards of any DK/Lightweight #3 yarn – I used Lion Brand Coboo
  • H8/5.00mm Crochet Hook or size needed to obtain gauge – We love Clover Amour Ergonomic hooks!
  • Soft tape measure as gauge is important
  • Scissors and yarn needle for weaving ends
  • Stitch Markers – I love these cute kitty ones!

Material Notes:

Anastasia chose Lion Brand Coboo, which is a cotton / rayon blend. This yarn one is one of my absolute favorites to use for garments! It has all the luxurious softness of bamboo, but the cotton adds a durability that regular bamboo or rayon doesn’t have. I’ve used 100% rayon and it hasn’t held up well, whereas Lion Brand Coboo does hold up really well. It still has an incredible drape like rayon does.

Even though I LOVE Coboo, I wanted to use something in my stash. I chose a DK 100% superwash wool from Beach Bunny Yarns in the color “philodendron”. This particular DK yarn is no longer available, but the philodendron color is still available on their other yarn bases. It is a beautiful deep green tonal that really adds to the texture of the stitches. Beach Bunny Yarns is an indie dyer based out of Ormond Beach, Florida.

I made the XL size and used about 1150 yards.

How Long Does it Take to Crochet a Rosebud Dreamer Tee?

This worked up way faster than I expected. It only took about 11 hours for my size XL.

Gauge:

The gauge is 15 stitches by 11 rows = 4″. The original pattern calls for aH8/5.00 mm hook, and I was able to meet gauge with a custom H hook from Bronze Shepherd Studio! Her hooks have a larger handle, which helps me crochet more loosely. Generally I tend to be on the tighter side.

All About Making the Rosebud Dreamer Tee:

My favorite thing about the Rosebud Dreamer Tee is that there is no sewing! I love doing a project in all one piece. It is worked top down so you can determine your overall length easily. The short sleeves are added last. The pattern is written for sizes XS-5X and includes instructions to make it bigger or smaller if needed. That is something I love about Anastasia’s designs, they are meant to fit everyone! The top has 2″ of positive ease, meaning that it will be a slightly oversized fit.

The designer describes this top as being for an advanced beginner or intermediate crocheter. There are several different kinds of stitches used to create the fun texture in this top! A variation of the lemon peel stitch is used to make the solid stripes, then some meshy double crochets, and puff stitches and chain spaces create the “rosebud” look. There are a few rows of half double crochet too. This is a really unique combo that creates such a lacy, fun top!

Personally there is only one thing I would change if I make another one of these tops. I would bring in the front shoulder panels just a little. The head hole felt a little wide on me so I would probably use the stitch count there for the size medium or large, rather than the XL, to bring in the front panels a little. Other than that this fits perfectly!

The Rosebud Dreamer Tee is going to be a new staple piece in my closet! Comment below to let me know if you are going to try out this pretty top for yourself!
