Hi! This is Kami. Be sure to come join me over on Instagram and say Hi.
It is always fun when you can make something that is both beautiful and functional. This is part of the reason that I love making bags so much. The Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case totally fits the bill here. I wear glasses all the time so I am always in need of a case to put in whichever pair I’m not wearing. This little pouch could be used to hold markers or crochet hooks as well. A little adjustment turns it into the perfect little phone pouch. Or possibly even a small purse for a little one.
This pouch features a two color stripe pattern. However the lovely texture would also shine in a solid color. Or if you want a little more than just stripes Amanda also has a heart and a chevron design that are worked similarly. Because it is worked in the round there is no need to cut for every color change. Just run the yarn up the inside of the case.
What Materials Do You Need to Crochet an Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case?
- Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn – I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (34 yards in Teal and 15 yards in Off White)
- G6/4 mm hook – See the material notes below for my favorite ergonomic hooks!
- Button
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
- Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case, Free Crochet Pattern from Loops and Love
Material Notes:
Both the designer and I used cotton yarn for this project. I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton, and the designer used I Love This Cotton. Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, WeCrochet Dishie, and Cascade Nifty Cotton would also be great choices!
Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton is a lovely, mercerized cotton yarn made of 100% cotton, that is durable, has a wonderful sheen to it, and excellent stitch definition. It is machine washable and dryable, making it perfect for a project like this that you want to keep nice and clean!
WeCrochet Dishie (aka Knit Picks Dishie) is a versatile, soft worsted weight #4 yarn made of 100% cotton. It’s on the lighter side for worsted weight working up similarly to Cascade Nifty Cotton, Queensland Coastal Cotton and I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby. It’s machine washable and dryable making projects easy to care for. As of June 1st, it is available in an amazing number of colors – 83 colors.

For a pouch like this, any yarn would work well, including Since you only need small amounts it is great for scrap busting. I recommend just using similar yarn throughout the project.
I love my ergonomic clay hooks from SiennasBowtique and BronzeShepherdStudio! They both have so many fun designs – I have several from each shop because they’re so darn cute and nice to hold onto! We also have lots of beautiful, handcrafted crochet hooks in our Yarn Crafts and Coffee Yarn Shop as well!
Since it was designed for a button, that is what I used. You can leave it open or use a different type of closure if you don’t have a button on hand. There are a lot of great button collections on Amazon, including this assortment of coconut shell wood buttons.
While this pattern is free on the designer’s website, you can also purchase an ad-free PDF version of this pattern as part of a bundle of three sunglasses pouch patterns.

How Long Does it Take to Crochet an Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case?
Expect it to take around an hour to make this sunglasses pouch. It comes together fairly quickly when you carry the yarn up the side. With only a few ends to tuck and a button to sew on you’ll be using your new sunglasses case in no time at all.
What Size is an Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case?
My case is 3.5 inches wide by 6.75 inches tall. It came out a little bigger than the original design, but it still works great for it’s purpose.
Gauge:
I chose not to worry about gauge for this pattern. My gauge was a bit bigger than designed. I had 15 rows and 18 stitches in Back Loop Single Crochet in the round is equal to 4″ square. The designer’s gauge was 2” x 2” square = 9 rows of 10 SC stitches.
All About the Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case:
I love how my Easy Stripes Sunglasses Case looks. It was so fun to make. I have already started a chevron one as well. I truly believe you can never have too many bags!!
This sunglasses case would make for a great summertime gift or a best-seller at markets. You can also just make and keep one for yourself! Honestly, you could even make one in every color to match all your summer outfits.
