A couple years ago, on my sister blog EyeLoveKnots, I shared my 2019 New Year’s Resolution list. I really enjoyed going through the year, so here is to another great year! You’ll find all Cre8tion Crochet goodies below, but also check out the one for my sister crochet blog EyeLoveKnots.
Business

As many of you know, I purchased Cre8tion Crochet from Lorene Eppolite this past Summer. She is an AMAZING person, and crochet designer. I have followed her since the start of my crocheting journey back in 2014 – just look at this old picture of me wearing my version of the Zola Stacked Cowl/Shrug from around 2013/2014! When I had the chance to purchase her blog, and be part of the magic, it was like a dream come true – read all about this Big Announcement from her directly.
Let me tell you something, and I’m saying this purely from a motivational stand point… I have felt like a small nobody in this design world for a long time. I have lived the struggling artist life watching the numbers grow little by little, been passed up on opportunities, and sometimes really feel like I’m living in the shadow of some of the crochet designer greats, but I’ve never given up. I’ve chugged along, and now am so very proud of being here able to be a part of the Cre8tion Crochet adventure. If you ever feel like a nobody, first, send me a message. Let’s talk! Secondly, keep chugging along. With hard work and time, you’ll get there.
If you are a designer looking for a place to house your yarn designs (crochet, knitting, plastic canvas, weaving, yarn pom poms and other crafts), or a maker interested in writing crochet pattern reviews, please apply here – this is my application for those writing crochet pattern reviews, but I’m going to use it in general right now. Price for free patterns hosted on my blogs varies, and we can discuss further.
Finish More Projects
This goal doesn’t mean a larger number of projects than previously, but to finish more of the projects I start. I always end up with a lot of projects in my WIP bin, and post drafts. We’re ending 2022 with 40 drafts. As my first year here, this will give me a point of reference next year.
My WIP bins are packed, but I am thrilled to report that I haven’t added any this year that belong on this blog. Everything I’ve set out to design has been completed, and I haven’t been able to say that before.
This goal doesn’t mean a larger number of projects than previously, but to finish more of the projects I start. I always end up with a lot of projects in my WIP bin, and post drafts. We’re ending 2022 with 151 drafts compared to last year’s 155 drafts. My WIP bins are still packed, and with some newly added projects from this year, albeit less, which is great.
One thing I’m bringing to you this year is a podcast, and I’m super excited! It’ll be coming your way from my YouTube channel really soon, and I’m really hoping through this podcast, I can get some of my WIP bins emptied. Guys, there are 6 of them plus a couple of tote bags! It’s time. I have a few different projects throughout them, but there is one in particular I started a couple years ago that I am looking forward to finally completing – the Everyday Cardi from the October 2020 Issue of Crochet World. You can catch a peek on Instagram.

EBooks
Each year, my goal is to publish 2 ebooks. This year, I did not get one single ebook finished, and I’m okay with that – it’s been a strange year, just aiming to be better in 2023. I came into this year just two hat designs short of a new ebook to match the designs in my Let’s Crochet Some Scarves, but I’m finishing the year still two hat designs short. I lost steam quickly on this project, but it is still on my list to finish, and you will find them shared here soon! For now, you can check out the free crochet patterns the first 4 each in 7 sizes each (shared on my sister blog, EyeLoveKnots): Dylan Claire Beanie, Haylee Beanie, Grace Tinley Beanie, & Suzette Beanie.

Use Up Stash
This is something in years past I’ve struggled with, but this year, I did really well using up my stash, and I’m so happy with myself. That’s not to say that I didn’t buy more yarn because I totally did, but I purchased it with more intention ie actually going to a finished project, like for my Cabot Scarf, and not just going to sit in my stash. The Grace Tinley Infinity Scarf, Lightweight Grace Tinley Beanie and Remi Clutch were all worked in yarns that were already in my stash – 3/5, woo hoo, feels good!
Last year, my mom gave me an old entertainment she no longer wanted for her home. I painted it, and rehomed my yarn collection. Having it all organized, and so easy to see and grab has really helped me, plus the fact that if it doesn’t fit, I’m less tempted to buy more. I’m hoping to create a post about my yarn storage soon, but you’ll definitely be seeing it in my upcoming podcasts.
What yarns do I keep on repeat in my stash? I’ve been going through a bit of a yarn crisis the past couple years upset with yarns that just aren’t durable. I want a great yarn that will stand the test of time, especially for the amount of time invested, and wear and tear on my body.

Emma’s Yarn Comfy Cotton DK is a beautiful wool and cotton blend, and Emma’s Yarn Washable Worsted is a lovely merino wool yarn. These are right on my top of my favorites list. Both of these are hand dyed in Winter Haven, Florida, and sold at Four Purls Yarn Shop. This yarn shop may be a little over an hours drive for me, but the feeling I get just stepping foot in the shop is well worth the visit. Check out my 2019 visit. I’ve admired these yarns and all the amazing colorways for years, but I’ve only been working with them for about two years now, and more this year than previously.
I have found no other yarn close to the Comfy Cotton DK. It’s lightweight, soft and squishy with great stitch definition, not itchy, comfortable to wear and it’s durable. Being a Superwash Wool, it can easily be machine washed if needed without worry of it felting. Love it, especially in the warm temperatures here in Florida.

The Washable Worsted has replaced Lion Brand Wool Ease and WeCrochet Swish on my shelf this year. They are all really lovely wool yarns to work with, and all very similar. They’re soft, not itchy at all, and so cozy plus machine washable and dryable – I always wash on gentle in cold water, and dry on low heat. The Washable Worsted is my go-to for wearables, but I’ve also started working a wreath with it.

WeCrochet Dishie is 100% cotton. Before, I used Lily Sugar n Cream for all my 100% cotton projects. My only complaint is that the color is not set in this yarn. There are ways you can set it with vinegar and salt. I am always real with you guys – I do not have it in me to do this each time I make something, not to mention that in my research, I’ve found some colors just don’t set with this method. I would not mind paying a little more money for Lily Sugar n Cream to have the color already set, but since that isn’t available, I dug into WeCrochet Dishie. It’s a lighter worsted weight yarn a bit more similar to Crafters Secret Cotton from Hobby Lobby. It is a bit of a change, but has resulted in some great projects that I am confident in the color which is the peace of mind I was looking for. Here, I’ve shared 1 project so far worked up in Dishie, but over the last couple years, I’ve published several on my EyeLoveKnots blog.
In my most recent craft space reorganization, I went through the boxes of destash yarn I had, grouped it together, and just like in my recent 50 Free Fingering Weight Crochet Patterns for Wearables post where I did a round up of free crochet patterns and hosted a giveaway for fingering weight yarn at the bottom, I plan to do more of these this year so be on the look out.
